Set off on a short drive from Blue River Resort & Hot Springs to a former palm of heart farm where the hike begins. Hike nature hike into a tall, dense jungle with grand “blue” waterfalls, dips into the Rio Pénjamo’s magical natural “blue” pools and stops inside the jungle. For many of us, the best part will be the many stops to learn and observe the symbiosis of the flora and fauna. Our tour commences a short drive from Blue River Resort at a former palm of heart farm. From the farm will be secondary forest and soon after, an untamed primary forest. This dense rain forest has giant trees, is home to hundreds of epiphyte plants, rich in biodiversity and lush vegetation. Enjoy peek-a-boo views of the smoking Rincon de la Vieja volcano crater too. The length of the hike is partly determined by the number of stops.
